Começamos o  3º. Bimestre e vamos fazer  hoje nossa  1º. Atividade.

Esta Atividade também está no MURAL do Google CLASSROOM.

Vamos aprender uma matéria que não é muito fácil e precisa de muita ATENÇÃO 

para fazer o Exercício.

Vamos aprender sobre  o  ARTIGO  DEFINIDO -  THE.

O Artigo THE significa: O, A, OS, AS.  Mas ele não pode ser usado de qualquer jeito.

Existem REGRAS para usar o Artigo THE.

Vamos aprender quando usamos o Artigo THE  e quando NÃO usamos o Artigo THE.

Observe os 2 exemplos abaixo:

NÃO usamos o Artigo THE antes de NOMES  PRÓPRIOS.     Veja o exemplo abaixo:

a ) __X__ Cláudia is our teacher since  6th. Grade.

NUNCA use o THE antes de  Nomes de pessoas. Observe que tem um  X antes do 

nome  Cláudia.

USAMOS o Artigo The antes de SOBRENOMES de  FAMÍLIAS no PLURAL.

b )  THE  Jacksons were a very famous American family.   

Observe que USAMOS o Artigo THE antes da palavra Jacksons, porque Jacksons é o SOBRENOME de uma família e está no Plural.

HABILIDADE: Conhecer  os usos do Artigo Definido “THE”.     

NÃO é necessário COPIAR a matéria. Copie e faça apenas o EXERCÍCIO.

DEFINITE  ARTICLE - “THE” 

( Artigo Definido – THE )

THE: Significa o, a, os, as. É um artigo definido que pode ser usado tanto no singular quanto no plural, no masculino e no feminino.

Ex: The  computer;  The computers / The  queen;  The queens.

Regras para o uso / não uso do Artigo “THE”

  

USAMOS  o artigo  THE   antes de:

                                                   

1) Nomes de  RIOS, OCEANOS, MARES     Exemplos:

The Atlantic Ocean  /  The Nile River  / The Red  Sea.

2) Nomes de  EDIFÍCIOS  PÚBLICOS     Exemplos:

The White House  /  The  Post Office  /  The Empire State Building  /

The Ritz Hotel   /  The Epcot  Center  /  The Vatican.

3) Nomes de INSTRUMENTOS MUSICAIS.        Exs:

The guitar  /  The electric guitar  /  The flute  /  The drums /  The trumpet, etc.

4) SOBRENOMES  DE FAMÍLIAS  no PLURAL /  BANDAS de ROCK.   Exs:

The Waltons  / The Simpsons  /  The Taylors  /  The Smiths,  etc.

 5) NOMES  de  PAÍSES  que contêm as palavras: UNITED , REPUBLIC  ou que sejam  NOMES  PLURAIS.      Exs.

The  UNITED  States  /  The UNITED  Kingdom  /  The  Dominican REPUBLIC  /  The Netherlands  /  The  Philippines …

 

6) Nomes de SERES  UNITÁRIOS  (em que há UM só na espécie / seres únicos).  Exs:

The Sun  / The  Moon  / The Earth  / The Solar System / The Sky / The  Milky Way

NÃO USAMOS  o artigo “THE”   antes  de:                

1) NOMES  PRÓPRIOS:  Mary, John, Richard, Sharon, Jessica, Carolina...

2) NOMES DE  CIDADES, ESTADOS, PAÍSES, com exceção dos países citados acima.    Exs:  Brasil, Califórnia, Bélgica, Santo André, Jerusalém ...

3) ADJETIVOS  POSSESSIVOS:   My / Your / His / Her / Its / Our /  Your / Their.   

4) MESES DO ANO  /  DIAS DA SEMANA  /  ESTAÇÕES DO ANO:

January; February; ... December   /   Sunday / Monday… Saturday  /

Spring  /  Summer  /  Fall, Autumn  /  Winter.

5) LÍNGUAS / MATÉRIAS ESCOLARES: 

English, Spanish  /  Portuguese, Maths, Biology.

Ou seja, quando aparecerem os substantivos: MILK / COFFEE / WATER / CHILDREN / MEN 

 NÃO use o Artigo The.
